Trains are a great adventure and a wonderful way to travel in Morocco. It is simple, organised, sometimes late but you see so much of Moroccan life.

If you fly in and/or out of Fez one of the ways to Meknes (Meknes Al Amir station) is by train.

The journey is about 35-40 minutes and costs 30MAD; about £2.50 each way. you can find train times at www.oncf.ma

A taxi from Fez airport to the station or the return is 150MAD-confirm with the driver before you leave.

The collapse of the minaret

You will have read or seen the news of the tragic collapse of the minaret of the mosque in Meknes during prayers last Friday. Many were killed and injured and we extend our sympathy to the people of Meknes at this time.
